EPISODE 17 : HOLD THE DOOR....


 KNITTING PATTERNS, PROJECTS, OH MY: Another MadMay project down! Young Einstein by Julia Stanfield. This is one of my favorite baby patterns, it is well written and the instructions are easy to follow. I have made many of these since I bought the pattern and I highly recommend it! Currently working on a matching beanie to complete the set!

 FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: Shiva

This was the midseason finale and was it just me or did it feel like we are missing episodes?? There was such a dramatic character shift that I feel like wouldn't have been overnight things! The amount of time since the last episode was just 1 day?!! Not even... its the next morning!!! Why are the characters acting like they have been downward spiralling for weeks or months?

- Chris completely goes off the deep end. The switch from guilty conscience to homicidal maniac doesn't work for me. It feels contrived and confusing.

- Travis continues to be naive about his son and chases after.

-Nick has completely drank Celia's Koolaid and abandons his family in the end believing them to be more evil than everyone else.

- Madison confronts Celia, Strand digs a grave, Alicia is forgotten in the shuffle and Salazar loses his mind completely.


GAME OF THRONES

 - Sansa Confront Baelish and sends Brienne on a new mission to see if Baelish is right about her uncle retaking Riverrun and having an army to aid her in the attack on Winterfell.

- Arya gets a new hit target and joins a theater troupe. She watches a play that unfortunately portrays her familys a fools and she has to watch a reneactment of her fathers behading. Ouch!!

- Dany and Jorah finally have their moment in the sun. Jorah finally tells his Khaleesi how he feels and reveals his deadly grayscale. She admits that cares for him and orders him to find a cure, not just go off and die.

-The Iron Islands Election is a little familiar. We have a crazy guy spouting nonsense and the qualified female  and male opposites that are being overshadowed by the nonsense. (I'm not a political podcaster...but come on... you had to see the comparison there!) By the end Yara and Theon run for it to hopefully get to Meereen first!


-And Hodor....RIP.  That is all.

- Lilac Silverfox was completed this week!! Yay. Cables...so many darn cables!

 -Also started a new cowl in a yarn that begged to come home with me from the yarn shop. Blue Sky Alpacas in Extra. So soft and Squishy. Working on a Tuesday Night cowl...this is my tv knitting at the moment, taking a break from cables.

GEEK FILES Fear the Walking Dead; Building up to the midseason finale. We finally get to Mexico, we lose a character and Chris turns to the EMO/Dark Side....ugh, really?? We also finally get to meet Thomas Abigail. Nick and Chris both have similar crisis of faith over all the violence and Salazar is beginning to act crazy as well. But Madison and Travis still haven't made that turn into likable characters we care about yet. Come on, we know you can do it?

 Game of Thrones: Sibling Reunion Week! Yay.

Working on Silverfox baby cardigan. This is my first bottom up pattern that I've done. Sleeves are complete and body is working up. So many cables....but it makes it challenging and such a cool finished product!  Onward!

- Lets meet the pirates... Connor, Reed, Jack, Vida, and ALEX! So it turns out that Alicia is not the only one opening up her big mouth and giving up the Abigail to the pirate clan. Alex is mad that they g ot put in the raft and left adrift but instead of focusing on Strand...she focused on the Travis character.

- Rescue mission in progress...teen romance...well sort of might all be a con?

- Madison still being overprotective with the kids.
-And Chris makes a step back into EMO teen mode.


GAME OF THRONES

-A good episode! Laying more ground work for things to come.
- I'm curious to see where they take all the plotlines they've set up this season.

- FunFunFun Shawl is complete! Yay, I love how this  turned out and would totally recommend it for anyone who hasn't done shawls before .This was my first foray into these garments and the pattern was so well written and gives such a great finished product!! It's awesome.

-Starting my MadMay projects finally! A couple days late, but better late than never! Starting the Silver Fox baby Cardigan as project number one.

- FEAR THE WALKING DEAD S2: Ep: 4 Blood in the Streets.

-Yay for backstory! We finally get some insight into the mysterious character of Strand. Plus the pirates finally surface and we may be losing some characters! But we gained a new one as well. Each Episode this season seems to be working better than the last.


GAME OF THRONES S6 Ep 2: Home

-Jon Snow!!!! Yes!!!!

-Still jumping from story to story, but overall a good episode! I loved the scenes with Tyrion and the dragons!

-Also loved that we get some backstory on Ned, Benjen, and Lyanna! And Hodor! Who wasn't excited to see that we are going to get backstory on Winterfell? I was jazzed.

GEEK FILES - Review of Fear the Walking dead Season 2: Ep: 2 We all fall down. - Episode with some really good ideas, but tried to do too much too fast and all at the same time so what could have been a GREAT IDEA, kind of came off as more of an okay episode. It was a stand alone that gave our cast some vital info about the world and what locations they might be headed for. Also brought up some interesting character issues.

Episode 11: Zombies on the Water!

 SPOILER WARNING

S2: Ep 1: Monsters Did we just watch the s6 TWD finale all over again? Just swapping the RV for a yacht? It sure feels that way, but the characters are still too naive and not "getting it" about the end of the world just yet.

There are some obvious set ups for what we can expect this season.
 -Zombies in the Water
- The Mystery of Strand : Con Artist, Drug Dealer?
- Nick and Ofelia hook up? Sure looks like it.
- Travis and Maddy on 2 different sides.
- Chris and Alicia are liabilities.
- Human threat = Pirates!!


ALLEGIANT MOVIE REVIEW

Shailene Woodley shines as Tris in the 3rd film in the Divergent series.
Four Falters. Peter Betrays "Again!"... Caleb Redeems, and then we have a set up for the final film Ascendant.

This movie gave us some back story on their version of the end of the world, the "Purity war". It brings up super babies and genetic engineering as the problem that started the war and now needs to be fixed. alot of plot holes though, and my final conclusion is that I need to READ THE DARN SERIES.

Episode 10: Taking it Like A Champ

- Still plugging away at the Carabe kid Cardi. Mostly done with the button band, just finishing up the short rows for the shawl collar, then on to sleeves!

- Mostly decided on baby projects that are upcoming. Silverfox Cardi and Bonnet will most likely be up first.

- Ahhhhhhhhck! What is that? I believe that would be the collective screaming of the Walking Dead fandom about the unanswered question that is still UNANSWERED! All that build up and suspense...all the speculation. And we won't know until OCTOBER!  I read somewhere that even the cast doesn't know yet.

But despite the frustration, I still discuss the finale ,and the awesomeness that is Negan and Lucille. Great portrayal and I look forward to more next season.

Episode 9: Finales: Stress, Sobs, and Speculation

 KNITTING PATTERNS PROJECTS OH MY: - Fates are a bit more favorable for the Carabe Kid sweater pattern than they were for the previous incarnation of this yarn. Sweater is knitting up quickly and going great! Love the contrast between Arctic and Pavement colorways.

 - Finished up Scrip Scrap Hat and it already found an owner.

- Wrapping up Tiny Twist Knit along, and preparing for the next knit along coming up in my groups. Mad May!!

GEEK FILES The Walking Dead: SPOILER WARNING for episode titled EAST. - Rocking back and forth chanting .... He's okay, Daryl's okay. He has be okay!!! - Everyone is in danger - The finale is next week, I think I'm going to need therapy !!

 The X Files - FInally finished up the last episode of the 6 ep season. And it was a cliffhanger?! This means they are going to make more right? Right?!

KNITTING PATTERNS, PROJECTS OH MY:

- Sunday Stroll Cowl and Hat are finished! LOVED this pattern.I loved it, the result was so cute and I will definitely be making more of these! So many more hats I foresee in my future with this pattern. Elena Nodel is one of the best designers.

-Take Two on the little man sweater. Trying a different pattern called Carabe Kid! Cross your fingers this one works out better than the last.

The Walking Dead: Twice as Far
- Not my favorite episode by far and it was definitely a filler episode. We lost a character, I felt like, much too soon. She had more potential than that, but the clock is certainly on the countdown to Negan. It keeps building the tensioN!


OUR FIRST CON!

- Cosplayers are amazingly awesome! ANyone who does this has my admiration. Such cool work that we saw, and almost all were super nice and gracious about posing for photos or chatting about their outfits.

- So many things to buy. All the toys! Comics, shirts, books, and just generally cool things that you are going to want to blow your paycheck on!

-Crowds: way more than you think to expect. Long lines, tight fits in some booths.

-Meeting R2D2 was a highlight!

- Sunday Stroll Cowl and Hat by Elena Nodel. Love this pattern. Using Electromagic face and Charcoal in DK Twist. This is another tiny twist knit along project.

- I am giving up on the Metamorphic pullover for now. For whatever reason its not speaking to me, I'm going to save it for another time.

-Got some new yarn. Alegria by Manos Del Uruguay, so pretty!

Episode 5 Synopsis


Knitting Patterns Projects Oh My:

- Stranding knitting isn't my thing, skill....whatever! Project is lovely,  but I need to up my game and practice/figure out this whole carrying 2 yarns thing without puckering tension or losing count, my place, my patience, you name it, I lost it on this project! But I survived and it's done. On to other things!

- Metamorphic pullover and I are giving each other some space, but prognosis is still a mystery. Love the design and look of the sweater, but there will be some stranded knitting involved and well...see the above project for how well that went. But practice is needed, so I may just soldier on.

- Considering starting a Puck hat or an Aftermath cowl....didn't I just say I was not liking Stranded?! Either I have a split personality or am a glutton for punishment.

- Some new yarn from GGH yarns made its way into the stash this week, so soft, baby alpaca.

This week my tv access was unfortunately interrupted. Gotta love sites that force you to log in with your cable provider when you don't have one. So for a short time I have to postpone talking about Xfiles and Walking Dead.

- So guess who is going to San Diego Comic Con?! Yes!! I managed to nab a badge for the whole thing and I'm so excited. It was a bit of a shock and I'm both incredibly excited and a little nervous. But I can't wait and I'm sure it will be an absolute blast! It might require its own episode!

 -Game of Thrones, new trailer...Hall of Faces. What did you think? Are you excited for Season 6 in April?

Welcome! This week some great news! Knits Beyond Normal is now available on Itunes! If you have the podcast app, or search in the online store...you can find the podcast and download, or subscribe through the app.

X-Files: Talk about second episode of reunion season. William! Loved this episode, familiar territory that addressed things alot of die hard fans wondered about, what Mulder and Scully thought about their son, his future,the possibilities. And Kyle and Molly, the alien kiddos. Good story, a bit of a weak tie in, but still a good watch!

The Walking Dead Returns: Did you watch?! Most of my predictions came true about this one, but as I watched it I got more nervous about even more characters getting the axe.  But my favorites made it thru this week alive, I can breathe for one more episode! And Daryl, love!

Star Wars, The Force Awakens: Thoughts upon second theater viewing. Adam Driving growing on me as Kylo Ren, some speculation about Finn's and Poe's characters and emotions still were everywhere even upon a second watch!

SVCC:  Going to my first convention. So jazzed about this! I can't wait. Some celebs, actors, comic artists, even science techs.  

SDCC: Tickets will be going on sale soon, may the odds be ever in your favor!!

 Welcome back! So still learning about how to edit this ....a little better this time and a little more content!

Knitting, Patterns, Projects, oh my:

- Napolitain Cardigan is finished! Was a smashing success. Fit the little miss really well and even was spot on for sleeve length.

-Started a new cardigan (Gidday) for the next little girl relative with a birthday coming up. So many little ones celebrating milestones in these couple months. Also working on a scrap hat for my boy child, stashbuster project!

-Upcoming knitalong. Excited about the possibilities that this tiny twist knitalong is going to offer.

X files returns: Yay!!!! My original fandom. Mulder and Scully were my heroes back in the day and still are to an extent. I loved seeing them back on my tv. You must go watch! I need to catch up, part of me wants to binge watch the heck out of this and the other half is trying to watch slower and savor every moment.

The Walking Dead: About to come back from mid season break! Who do you thinks lives? There are all kinds of dark suspicions about the fates of certain characters coming up before the end of this season. Cross your fingers that Maggie and Glenn are safe! And seriously nice release date, who doesn't want Zombies on Valentines day?!

Game of Thrones:  Speculation on the fate of Jon Snow is all over the place on the webs these days. Do you think he lives, do you think he's dead? Is he on the show, off the show, dead or undead? Theories abound.

Star Wars Review Postponed:  I am going to try to get in one more theater viewing before jumping into this. I want to get all my thoughts in order, and this is a movie that I really want to see again before it leaves the big screen.

 Valentines day is nearly upon us . Whether you celebrate it or not, ThinkGeek.com has  bouquets of stuffed droids and stormtroopers that are just awesome.  Also the partner rings (Doctor/Companion, I love you/I know) Lots of fun geeky gift ideas.

-Happy Chinese New year! This is apparently the year of the Fire Monkey.

-Headline Cuteness: Sea Lion pup wanders into beachfront cafe and has a nap in a booth. Only in San Diego. As cute as the pics were it was a little sad to hear that the pup was suffering from medical issues, but she was quickly taken in by the rescue team at Sea World who hope to help her recover and be released back into the wild.

Welcome to the blog for Knits Beyond Normal!

This is a new podcast that I am trying to get up and running.  Knits Beyond Normal will be a podcast that discusses knitting, yarn, patterns, and projects. We'll also be talking about books, movies, tv and other things in our Geek Files segment. I'm a bit of  series addict to a few different programs (Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Jessica Jones, Doctor Who, Sherlock ,etc).  In this testing episode there is also a little bit of talk about the new Star Wars film! I touch on my initial reaction to the film (Warning: I am a Star Wars fan, not a super scholar, but a pretty big fan).  I close out this test episode with a top 5 list. (I like odd numbers!)

I will be getting an email up and running in an episode or two where you can contact me about things you hear on the podcast, or things you want to hear.

I will also try to include links to things I talk about (yarns, projects, patterns, etsy items) here in the blog so you can search out things you may be interested in.
